In the tradition of The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter comes a richly imagined epic adaptation of Ursula K. Le Guin’s multiple award-winning classic tale.
Protected by the High Priestess Thar (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Isabella Rossellini, Merlin) at the Tombs of Atuan, the Amulet of Peace has insured harmony between humans and dragons for centuries in Earthsea. Now, the future of this utopia is in jeopardy after suffering a grave attack by the Kargides. Earthsea’s temple was invaded, the amulet broken in two, and one of its pieces disappeared. Vulnerable to the dreams of conquest cherished by the nefarious King Tygath of Atuan (Sebastian Roché, The Last of the Mohicans), Earthsea has only one chance for restoring the amulet and protecting its many islands from the occupation of evil forces. The last hope is a boy named Ged (Shawn Ashmore, X-Men), a simple blacksmith’s son and neophyte wizard eager to hone his magical gift, prove his mettle among his peers—and impress the budding priestess Tenar (Kristin Kreuk, Smallville).
However, the fate of Earthsea will be determined by the outcome of far more important and dangerous challenges than Ged ever dreamed. For on his journey into manhood, he accidentally opens the Gateway of the Nameless Ones and releases his own shadow. Fleeing from his dark side, Ged is informed by his former Wizard Master Ogion (Emmy nominee Danny Glover, Lethal Weapon) that he must face it rather than run. Only then can he find the priceless treasure he seeks. From the labyrinth of the Nameless Ones to the hidden chambers of Earthsea, Ged and Tenar must survive impossible and fantastical dangers as they embark on a quest to prevent King Tygath’s immoral ambitions and restore eternal peace to their home.
