Golden Monkeys only exist in China. Discovered in the 1890s, they were thought to be extinct until their rediscovery in 1962. Today they are one of the world’s most endangered primates. Due to the extreme isolation of their habitat, in China’s wildest nd most remote mountainous regions, serious study of these creatures is still in its infancy. Central characters in some of China’s most beloved legends and stories, their extreme isolation protected them – until now.
Today, they are on the verge of extinction.
China's Hidden Monkeys takes viewers to some of the most beautiful and untouched mountain regions of China. Unprecedented access has allowed the film crew to follow the life cycle of a troop of these unique and rarely-filmed animals.
