The Overland Project started 20 years ago with the aim of driving around the world to discover its most remote areas and unknown cultures. Since then it has covered more than 440,000 km -equal to 10 times the circumference of the Earth while crossing the borders of 378 countries.
The centerpiece of long running expedition series Overland is the re-discovery of the journey by land, combined with the aim of obtaining a snapshot of the planet and its culture in the late 20th century and early 21st century.
Season 12: In the Heart of Black Africa
Overland expedition return to the African continent traveling from Morocco to the Cape of Good Hope and then up in Cairo.
Season 13: 25 Years along the Silk Roads
The series covers 15,000 km from Milan to Shanghai.
Season 14: Caucasus, People and Cultures at the Crossroads of Europe and Asia
The series travels through Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Caucasus countries of the Russian Federation as Chechnya, Ossetia and Ingushetia.
Season 15: The North West of China
A journey along the ancient Silk Roads surrounding the heart of the Taklamakan.
Season 16: Bolivia and Peru
An exciting journey amongst the people and landscapes of the Andes.
Season 17: Extreme South-East Asia
Crossing through four of the most beautiful and fascinating nations of South-East Asia: Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Season 18: Europe to Afghanistan
Starting from Italy, the expedition is crossing by land some of the most politically delicate Nations, like Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, the Balkans, Belarus, East Ukraine, along some very dangerous routes.
Season 19: India
Overland leads audience from the deep south of Kerala to the dangerous far north in Kashmir, on the disputed border with Pakistan, across the Buddhist enclave of Ladakh, the spectacular Rajastan desert and the great metropolises of Bombay and Delhi.
Season 20: North & West Africa
Setting off from Italy by land, the Overland team travels over 45000km down through West Africa, visiting Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria.
Season 21: Northern Europe
Overland’s new endeavour sees the team experience first-hand the effects of Global Warming in the part of the world where the signs of this are most visible: Sweden, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Denmark.
Season 22: From the Atlantic to the Karakorum
Taking viewers from West to East: the series kicks off in the Azores, before continuing in Malta and Turkey and coming to a close in Northern Pakistan, on the border with China.
