SEASON 1
Sort Of is a big-hearted series about Sabi Mehboob, a fluid millennial who straddles various identities from sexy bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore/bar, to the youngest child in a large Pakistani family, to the de facto parent of a downtown hipster family.
Sabi feels like they’re in transition in every aspect of their life, from gender to love to sexuality to family to career. When Sabi’s best friend 7ven presents them with an opportunity to live and find themself in the "queerest place in the galaxy," Sabi instead makes the decision to stay and care for the kids they nanny after their mom has a serious bike accident.
Do they regret it? Sort of.
SEASON 2
Created by Bilal Baig (Acha Bacha) and Fab Filippo (Save Me), the award-winning series returns for season 2: the season of love.
Sabi is ready to make stronger choices for themself, knowing their boundaries, and having developed the self-worth to “take up space”. In season two, Sabi will face new challenges in their work life, love life, and family life. With the return of Sabi’s father to Canada, Bessy’s release from rehab, and workplace uncertainty, life is everything but simple and Sabi will question if they will ever have uncomplicated love.
It’s all about love. Friend love, family love, loving your work, love of place, and romantic love. We explore the nature of all Sabi’s relationships, as well as those of the rest of the ensemble, with a particular focus on unconventionality.
SEASON 3
Sabi comes to terms with feelings of grief and an unexpected sense of freedom following the death of their father. Without the constraints of living up to dad's expectations Sabi confronts big questions about their identity, prompting some massive life choices.
In a season that has the entire ensemble grappling with aftermaths, a rebirth comes in a sort of messy, sort of hopeful, sort of "Sort Of" way.
