April 11, 1961. In a baking hot studio gallery in Jerusalem, TV director Leo Hurwitz has his eyes fixed on the clock. The seconds are counting down to the first ever live TV broadcast of an event that will reach hundreds of millions of people in 37 countries around the world.
The Eichmann Show is the behind-the-scenes drama of how a blacklisted Hollywood TV director (Anthony LaPaglia, Without a Trace, Lantana) and ground-breaking producer (Martin Freeman, Sherlock, Fargo) over came enormous obstacles as they set out to capture the testimony of Adolf Eichmann, one of World War II’s most notorious Nazis, architect of the Final Solution and the man who organised the mass deportation and extermination of six million Jews.
As the trial progresses, the director and producer become increasingly determined to have Eichmann demonstrate the slightest shred of remorse or humanity. In the process, they ultimately reveal the true horrors of the Holocaust to the world for the first time. Integrating actual footage of the trial seamlessly into the story, The Eichmann Show is an intense, absorbing and unique take on a singular and extraordinary moment in television and political history.
