Bradley Walsh is to front his first series for Sky History, where he will visit the monuments of ancient Egypt to ask whether aliens might have been involved in their construction.
Three-parter Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code will be produced by Studio Crook and GroupM Motion Entertainment. Sphere Abacus will handle international distribution.
The Blankety Blank host has a long-time interest in engineering and the pyramids and a fascination with the idea that the construction feats may have been done with some extraterrestrial influence.
As part of his investigation, he will meet Dr Meredith Brand from the American University in Cairo and Dr Arto Belekdanian and will conclude his trip with a visit to the Luxor tomb of Tutankhamun.
The show was commissioned by vice president of programming at Hearst Networks EMEA Dan Korn who said: “Bradley has exactly the kind of passion and thirst for knowledge with which Sky History viewers love to engage, and his questions and inquiries elicit surprising revelations about the lives, practices and beliefs of our ancient forebears.”
Matt Crook of Studio Crook added: “When Bradley and I first started talking about this project, he had some pretty out-there theories on the pyramids, which he absolutely backed up with his engineering background and a whiteboard of mathematical theories. It has been one of the funniest, most fascinating and intense adventures I have ever had the pleasure of filming.”
The series will air on 18 March on Sky History in the UK, and later in the year on The History Channel in South Africa, the Middle East, Benelux, Sweden, Poland, and Central and Eastern Europe.
